The Black Carnival by Harlequin Grim

The year is 1886 in New Sarum, England, and Atherton Graves only knows a life surrounded by corpses. Amidst a rash of child deaths, he alone suspects they are the product of murder. At least, that’s what the ghosts in his mortuary tell him. But there’s hardly time to hunt the killer; Atherton has just sold a cadaver to a spiritualist at the notorious Black Carnival, and the town gang known as the Disciples are not going to take that lightly.

Caught between a serial killer, a circus bursting with foul characters, and his spiraling madness amongst the restless dead, Atherton will undoubtedly become the villain of his own story. The question remains: who, if any, will be unscathed by the rampant destruction he’s invited?

Here's my review on The Black Carnival:
At first I instantly fell in love with the setting and characters. I will say that part of the beginning can test you as a reader, it felt a little disconnected with how the book jumps from one character perspective to the next, that unique aspect and the characters themselves kept me tied in personally.
Once you get towards the middle you get a massive peaky blinders vibe and things start to flow a bit more, the characters start to behave in less of a pov aspect like in the beginning. The scenes start to blend seamlessly and are vividly portrayed and captivating.Upon getting to the last third of the book, scenes are more vivid with extra character details. This blends perfectly with how the 2nd half of the book flowed it increases interest and continues to reveal more plot that contains aspects of the supernatural and elements that push ones morals of good or bad making the book truly hard to put down. The ending is action packed and truly a perfect blend of a circus theme and 19th century London violence. Another aspect of the book that makes it unique is the spot on usuage of British lingo and having a refrence for terms in the back. It truly was vividly described so well i could see the scenes play out in my mind.

Super awesome book!

Got this pretty thing in and I am so pleased with it! I did arc for this book so have already have read it once but gonna read it so many more times!

-My only dilemma is a couple really small dents but I saw my neighborhood mail man just toss it up over my gate instead of just carefully taking it up so NOT the fault of The Crow Shop!
